Step 1: Project Assessment

"I'm impressed with your speed and quality. Thank you very much."
- Marilyse Benyakar, English to French Translator

Our first priority is understanding your needs and assessing how best we can serve you. For each project, we will need to know the following information in order to determine the scope and complexity of your project:
  • The source and target languages
  • The type of document(s): Legal, HR, Hi-Tech, Business, Autumotive, etc.
  • Ideal timeline for completion of the project
  • Length of the document(s) in number of words
  • Description of your target audience, including their dialect and education level
You can start this process by calling us, or by completing our online Quote Request form, and telling us about your translation needs.

At this stage, we usually ask to review the files needing to be translated, so we can determine the scope of the project, identify unknown variables, and advise you on any special requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to move on to the next steps.

For projects involving a great deal of large files, or DTP files with complex layouts and high-resolution images -- such as Adobe Illustrator or InDesign, Macromedia Freehand, or Quark XPress, we ask that you mail us a CD with a copy of these files. For such files, we also ask that you provide a complete set of images, fonts, and any other supporting files, as this directly facilitates the later stage of re-integrating the translated text with your layout files.

Though we can accept faxes of simple source text files, it is always preferable if you can provide us with original, digital copies of your files, as this prevents our translators from mis-reading small type or text printed over a shaded background.
